A fuchi and kashira with signature, Edo Period (1603-1867)

Set of mounts worked en suite. Made of shakudo nanako. The external surface is browned and finely granumated. The fuchi decorated in relief with a beautiful effigy of a lobster, enriched with gilding. A signature on the border. The kashira worked en suite at the lower part and with the effigy of a copper lobster among golden leaves (small lacking part to the ring nut of a loop). 2.8 cm opening for the blade. Epoch: probably late Edo, second half of the 18th/first half of the 19th century. Kept in kiri-box. See a set for daisho, similar in decorative theme and type of workmanship in "Tsuba and Kodogu, Elements of the Japanese Sword", by Lowenberger / Saitz, Museo d'Arte Orientale Edoardo Chiossone, Compagnia dei Librai, Genoa 1986. N. inv. 184, 185, 186, 187 (page 100 with photo). Signed: Iwamoto Kanri. Dated 18th century.
