Accurate and detailed description of the wild sports of the East presented in a fictional and interesting way, it deals with the natural history of the elephant, the rhinoceros, the tiger, the leopard, the 'bear and many others; the different games with game, fish, snakes are illustrated, all interspersed with original, authentic and curious anecdotes, taken from the manuscript and drawings of Captain Thomas Williamson, who was stationed in Bengal for twenty years.
