Prima edizione con testo in inglese, di questa imponente raccolta di scritti più o meno brevi, tra il teorico, tecnico e l’aneddotico, con ricca selezione iconografica. Al verso del frontespizio la dedicatoria "My good-bye greeting to Mattioli of Milan and Bosso of Turin, and my arrival greeting to John B. Salterini of New-York". Dopo il foreword una striscia in carta colorata reca il messaggio "Hold On", invitando a scusare gli inevitabili “mistakes” e “misprints”.
