L’artista ungherese sposa prima l’espressionismo, poi il dadaismo e infine il costruttivismo anche se la sua vera natura era e resta legata alla ricerca totale. Non a caso nel 1923 viene invitato da Walter Gropius alla celebre scuola del Bauhaus dove, in contemporanea con Man Ray, sperimenta la tecnica del fotogramma.
